The Elbow Room is the UK's leading chain of pool bars, with three venues in London, one in Leeds and one in Bristol. Though the bars vary in style and size, they are united by our determination to put the finest American pool tables into a stylish bar environment where you can expect great drinks and food, attentive service and top tunes.
The Elbow Room was inspired by a lost weekend in LA during which founder Justin Carter claims to have taken Kiefer Sutherland to the cleaners at 9-ball in some dive bar. On his return Justin hooked up with manager patrick Chessells, designer paul Daly (www.pauldaly.com), and legendary American music producer Arthur Baker, and the first Elbow Room opened on London's Westbourne Grove in the summer of 1995. The gleaming American pool tables and cutting-edge design were a stark contrast to the traditional English pool experience - a wonky table in the dingiest corner of your local pub, playing winner stays on with the toothless meathead pub champ.
Further sites followed in Leeds, Islington, Bristol and Shoreditch and over 2 million frames of pool have now been fought out on The Elbow Room's tables. We're still going strong, with a great team of people trying to make it better every day, introducing new DJ's, new games (anyone for ping pong?) and new mating rituals (pool dating - speed dating with balls).
